DETOX without the hype, pomp, ceremony, or expense!

With the festive season over, and the dawn of a new year, most of us will be thinking of some form of cleansing regime to help get rid of those extra calories we have put on.  This DETOX post is one that is easy to follow and very inexpensive.  Start your new year feeling energised and vibrant by following a few simple rules and of course enjoying a delightful soup that is sure to help rid you of toxins which you have accumulated over the past few months.

Technically the body does not actually need to be “DETOXED” – the liver and kidneys do this naturally, but dietary overhaul at the start of the year is a good way to introduce more fruit and vegetables to your diet, so you look and feel your best.

Rather than spend your hard earned dollars on expensive, and often unproven dietary supplements and DETOX programs, it is simple to put your own together.

I hereby give you my “DETOX” regime, that will certainly give you results.

Tips for a successful detox

1) Eliminate all processed foods including biscuits, cakes, lollies/candy as well as alcohol and coffee for 3 days.
2) Eat at least 3 pieces of fruit and 3 cups of vegetables or salad each day.
3) Eat lean protein from omega-3 rich salmon or tuna, or lean chicken breast with whole  grains such as beans, oats or brown rice for light meals.
4) Snack on nuts, fruit or yoghurt.
5) Most importantly drink 2-3L of water each day or green tea.  Green tea is a powerful source of antioxidants.

A great way to kick off your “DETOX” is to make some soup “DETOX SOUP” to enjoy for lunch or dinner.  This can be topped with some grilled chicken (skinless).  Not only is the “DETOX”
Soup
delicious, the vegetable broth will help rid your body of excess fluid.

Voxy Lady’s Authentic Indian Curry Recipe

If you love a good Authentic Indian Curry, without using shop bought pastes, sauces or mixes, then you may like to try my own creation, which I have been making for years.  It beats those Curries bought from takeaways and definitely beats any Curry made using a base bought from the supermarket where you just add your meat, vegetables and or fruits.

If you are a purist, you’ll cook Curry in either Mustard Oil or Ghee (Clarified Butter) which you can find in any good Indian Shop.  If you cannot obtain either of these ingredients then use butter combined with sunflower or olive oil.

Never thicken Curries with white sauce or flour unless indicated – rather allow the curry to simmer slowly to thicken itself by evaporation.  If the resultant curry must be thickened, add cream, evaporated milk or grated coconut which is also excellent for thickening.

Do not stir the curry much: rather shake the pot.  If it must be stirred, use a wooden spoon, previously dipped in boiling water.

Always taste before serving and correct the seasoning.  If it needs pepping up add Ghurum Masala (A mixture of special spices often sold by Indians under their various “family” or Brand names).  Fresh lemon juice added to curry will enhance the flavour.

Hard boiled eggs, fish, prawns, chicken or root vegetables all make good curries.  Remember to cook a curry slowly.

Home-made Curry Powder

2oz or 57g Cumin seeds
6oz or 170g coriander seeds
1/2oz or 15g fenugreek
1oz or 28g black pepper corns

Roast for a few minutes and then grind.

To these add the following, ground but not roasted.

1oz or 28g cloves
2oz or 57g cinnamon (Cassia Bark)
1oz or 28g mace
2oz or 57g red chilies

Leave the chili seeds in if you want to raise the palate roofs of all who partake in your curries otherwise remove them.  Sieve all the ground ingredients together and store in an air-tight jar.

And now you are set to make a mouthwatering, tear jerking, delectable curry.

The Recipe

2 onions chopped
1 clove of garlic
2 tablespoons Home-made curry powder – less if you want a mild curry
2lbs or 1kg of lean lamb diced
14oz or 400g tin of tomatoes
3 medium size potatoes
1 bay leaf
1green and 1 black cardamon pods
1 Star Anise
5 Fresh Curry leaves
1 Tbs Fresh coriander
1 tsp fennel seeds
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp ground ginger
Salt & pepper to season
Juice of 1 lemon

Serve on a bed of Basmarti Rice

I look forward to your comments and feedback.

Enjoy

Surviving your Office Christmas Party

28/11/08 – VoxyLady’s Office Christmas Party.  We are booked in to play Barefoot Lawn Bowls with a BBQ luncheon.  Should be a lot of fun.

One thing I have noticed over the years as a working person is that Christmas Parties can become volatile.  There are those work colleagues that over indulge in the festivities having a few too many alcoholic beverages.  This can cause some conflict especially if you are at war or have recently had a tiff  or spat with an office colleague.

Here are a few tips on surviving an Office Christmas Party.

1.  Alcoholic Beverages (mantra – office/work and alcohol do not mix) – If you are going to drink at the Christmas Party, keep the drinks to a minimal as you will have to be aware that alcohol does affect ones though process and actions, even if you are a seasoned drinker.  Because you are mingling with people you spend most of your working day with, it is too important to chance a slipped comment due to loose lips from alcohol.  If you are a beer drinker, try having a beer Shandy instead of a full glass or bottle.

SERVES 1

Ingredients

150 ml Beer
150 ml Sprite or Lemonade

Directions
1. Pour well chilled beer into tumbler.
2. Gently pour in well chilled Sprite.
3. NOTE: since the ingredients portions are equal, you could make this as small or as large as you like!

If you prefer to drink Wine, try mixing your wine with orange juice or even a raspberry cordial.
Also try drinking a glass of water between your drinks.  This will help keep you hydrated as alcohol will dehydrate you.
2.  Attire – Wear appropriate clothing for the party. Don’t wear something overly seductive or revealing like,  a  low cut dress or see through top. Men in suites are always appropriate, but so is a jacket and nice pants. The company party is not a pick – up joint.  For a small party, your business attire is fine. For a larger, catered affair, think after-five but before midnight – and don’t close the establishment. Your career survival depends on you flaunting your mind, not your body. Your professional appearance should be maintained at all times.
3.  Conversation – You don’t have to talk shop, try and get to know your work colleagues.  Find out what they do outside of work, what are their hobbies and interests.  If you have to talk about work, talk about the future direction of the company and how you as a team can band together to improve team work as well as office relationships as this could mean the difference between success or failure in all departments.  Don’t talk about anything that can be misconstrued or taken personally as this could come back and bit you in the end.
So Voxy Lady suggests you be Smart, think before you drink, wear something appropriate, and have meaningful productive conversation.
Enjoy
Merry Christmas to all

Upwards and Onwards

Hello again from Voxy Lady,

Over the past few weeks I have tried to put what I have learned over the past 12 months about internet marketing,  into perspective, the more I think about what I have been told and shown the more I realise that I was lead up the garden path.

I realised that I would never succeed, if I continued with the coaching I have received from certain, so called guru’s.  Every one promised greatness and good fortune if you followed their instructions or attend their meetings.  For one thing I am on the other side of the world to most of the coaches so the timing for training sessions were unrealistic for me, having a full time job.  But here’s the thing…most of the instructions they do provide on registering for their coaching, were so badly demonstrated that I am sure I am not alone in saying that “No wonder only a handful of people succeed“.

One of the big problems I found was that on most occasions, support requests went ignored or the responses that were received were irrelevant and was far from answering the question submitted.

Now as I mentioned I have been fortunate enough to meet someone who is about to change all that negativity I have brewed up over the last 12 months.  What Voxy Lady has been told is that there will not be any promotion for rubbish, infective affiliate programs, nor will I be spending my hard earned money on broken dreams.

As soon as I have more information about the coaching from this particular person I will be sure to have the breaking news on my blog.

So till then, think twice about what you are getting into before taking the plunge.

See you at the top

Who is Voxy Lady?

Hi, I’m known on the internet as Voxy Lady, so I thought I best make a blog. I’m coming to you from Sheldon, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.  Known as the Smart State of Australia, as well as a place to live because it’s beautiful one day and perfect the next.

In 1982, my then husband and 2 boys aged 6 and 2, immigrated to Australia from Durban, South Africa, after falling in love with the country when we had our delayed honeymoon in 1978.  We toured around the country by car and plane and realised that this was where we wanted to raise our family.  We decided to settled in Brisbane because of the climate and the many similarities it possessed compared to Durban.

49 years later, I am divorced after 27yrs of somewhat harmonious matrimony, with 3 fantastic Children, my 2 sons aged 32 and 28 and daughter aged 24 who was born an Aussie.  I am also the proud grandmother of my 28yr old son’s daughter aged 6yrs and 10 months.

A few years after arriving in Australia we started an Engineering business which specialised in Signage, truck bodies trays and pan techs as well as box trailer and various other steel fabrication.  We diversified and started our Shade Structure Business Category which would be a subdivision of the main business.  These were very popular in both the commercial and domestic market as well as parks and gardens.  After divorcing (and being screwed big time by my ex) I had nothing more to do with the businesses and found myself in a bit of pickle financially as I have never officially worked for a boss,  so it was time to hit the papers and internet and find a job.

It wasn’t long before I received, after applying for almost 60 jobs that I was invited in for an interview.  I was offered the job there and then and commenced the following day.  The position I secured was in  telemarketing selling mobile phone plans.  I did very well and earned some serious cash, but realised that this was never going to be a long term career.  A friend who worked in the plastics industry encouraged me to apply for a position they had created for a Quality Control Officer.  I did and after 2 interviews from a long list of applicants with university degree’s, I was offered the job.   That lasted just over a month, it wasn’t my cup of tea.  It was more of a blokey bloke’s job.  I once again hit the newspapers and internet and applied for any job I felt I had the skills, knowledge and experience for.  After a couple of weeks I received the first call in response to my many job applications, accepted the invitation to an interview and secured the position.

The position was for a Administrative Assistant, which I commenced on the 14th February 2005 (Valentines Day).  I settled into the job well and after a few months I was seconded into a position of Training and Placement Consultant. I spent almost 12 months in this position until the person who’s position I was seconded into decided that she was going to accept another position.  I was then sent back to my original position as administrative Assistant.  As the months went by staff left, so an opening was available for an Employment Consultant which I diligently applied for and never got.  I persisted and applied 7 times when the vacancies became available and we’d seen many managers come and go, when finally a new recruit to the position of manager was employed, who looked through my staff record and viewed my previous application along with my Selection Criteria I had submitted 3 applications before, and called me to his office and offered me a permanent roll as Senior Employment Consultant, where I would manage a caseload of around 100 clients.  That was a joyous occasion and going into my 4th year I can’t say that I regret hanging in there submitting application after application.

Even though I’m not known as Voxy Lady in work, I thoroughly enjoy my job as it is challenging and provides me with a great deal of satisfaction as well as rewards from the thankful clients with whom I have made a difference.  Unfortunately this job as no real advancement and the pay is nominal so I have had to think outside the square in search of means in which I can supplement my income.

For a number of years now I have been looking online for this opportunity and have joined numerous affiliate programs, bought tools, software, books and paid memberships with no return on my investment.  I was feeling disheartened and very disillusioned until I happened to stumble into a chat room in a Program I had been frequenting for the past several years in the hope I would find that one opportunity that would provide me with what I was looking for.  Well it so happened that on the 17th October 2008, I woke early to attend a meeting that had been rescheduled 2 hours before the usual time only to realise it was also changed to the next day.  Since I was up and about I decided to do some room hopping and entered a room on PaltalkScene called Make Money Membership created by CarpetDog.  What I was hearing has put a whole new spin on IM for me, so the game plan has now changed.

To Be Continued…

Cheers
